About

Your wedding day isn't a photoshoot. It's a collection of a thousand unrepeatable moments... a knowing glance across the room, a hand squeezed under the table, the tear your father tries to hide. These are the moments that matter. They are the fabric of your legacy.

I am Nate McCurley and I do more than just document those moments. My job is to see them, feel them and preserve them in a way that is as genuine and timeless as your connection itself.

My Path Here Wasn't a Straight Line

My journey to becoming a photographer was a long search for one thing: genuine connection.

Growing up, I was the sensitive kid who felt things deeply. It made me an easy target to be bullied... For years, I tried to hide that part of myself, using humour as a shield. That deep-seated need to understand how people truly connect led me down some interesting paths, from becoming a customer service coach obsessed with the art of rapport, to the structured halls of law school and into the fast-paced world of corporate project management.

It’s been incredible to now use that empathy to connect with people on a deeper level taking photos of their best selves, creating safe environments and helping to build the confidence of others.

I was gathering skills, but I hadn't yet found my purpose.

The Moment It All Came Into Focus

The moment that crystalised it all for me was deeply personal. When my grandfather passed away, we scrambled to find good photos of him...

He was the man who made me the best pancakes, a symbol of quiet, unconditional love. As I was putting together the memorial slideshow, sorting through a lifetime of photos, I was hit by a profound realisation.

The blurry snapshots were just records that he existed. But the few truly good photographs... the ones where his wedding photographer (or the few from me over the past few years) had captured the kind light in his eyes and the texture of his smile, those held his essence. In those images, he was still with us.

In that moment, I wasn't a project manager or a photographer. I was a grandson who understood the profound responsibility of holding a camera. I finally knew my 'why'. It's why at every wedding I make it my mission to capture not just the two of you, but the parents, the grandparents and all the special people who have shaped your lives.

What This Means For You

My unconventional background is my greatest strength and it directly shapes the experience you will have.

My Empathy is Your Comfort - That sensitivity I once hid is now my superpower. It allows me to read a room, anticipate a moment, and see the subtle, unspoken language between two people. I see the big moments, but I live for the in-between ones.

Rapport is Everything - My experience in teaching rapport means our time together will feel less like a photoshoot and more like a conversation with a trusted friend. I'll guide you, not pose you. The result is photos where you look relaxed, natural and genuinely happy because you genuinely are.

An Eye for the Timeless - My personal style is rooted in classic elegance, a perfectly tailored suit, a timeless watch. I bring this same philosophy to my photography. By using clean composition and true-to-life colours, I create images that won't fall victim to fleeting trends, ensuring your photos look as beautiful on your 50th anniversary as they do today.

A Seamless Experience - The project manager in me promises you a seamless, organised and stress-free process from our first chat to the final delivery. You can relax and be present on your day, knowing every detail is being taken care of.

Your Space to Breathe - A wedding day is a beautiful whirlwind, but it can also be overwhelming. Feeling overwhelmed? Feeling overstimulated? We are only human! If you need a moment to yourselves, to breathe and reconnect away from the crowd, I can make that happen. Nobody ever questions the photographer who says "I'm just going to steal them for a few quiet portraits." It's our perfect excuse to give you five minutes of calm to simply be present with each other. I've got your back.

When The Camera is Down...

I'm still a student of connection and a lover of good stories. When I'm not shooting or being a dad to a wild toddler and two even crazier fur-daughters, you'll find me nerding out over watches, reading manga or trying to lift heavier weights at the gym.  or walking my dog, Ruby, or playing hide and seek with my toddler son. I believe you can appreciate the craftsmanship of a fine watch and the artistry of a well-made video game. I'm still trying (and failing) to perfectly recreate my grandfather's pancake recipe.

If you believe your love story deserves to be told with depth, elegance and a whole lot of heart, then I think we'll be a great fit.

I would be honoured to hear your story.
