I direct. I capture the direction. And then I capture the moment right after it breaks. That second one tends to be the keeper.
The direction is the starting line. I'll find the light, put you in it and tell you exactly what to do... then I capture what happens after. That unscripted exhale right after... where you laugh or reach up to fix his hair? That's usually the frame that ends up on the wall.
